A new paper published in Journal of The American Society of Echocardiography (JASE), Volume 32, Issue 6, Pages 708-719, 2019, was highlighted on American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Newsletter, June 5, 2019

Our team members Marco Chun-Kit Chow and Martin Chun-Wing Leong contributed to a new paper entitled "Device Sizing Guided by Echocardiography-Based Three-Dimensional Printing is Associated with Superior Outcome after Percutaneous Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion" published in JASE. This work was highlighted on ASE Newsletter, and commented by Drs. Stephen H. Little and Muhamed Saric in an editorial (PDF) that “this application of pre-procedure volumetric imaging data for the prediction of interventional outcomes is novel and demonstrates important advances”, and the development "may have far-reaching implications for several other structural heart procedures". Congratulations to Marco and Martin for receiving this recognition!

IRIS team was awarded Best Live Demonstration Prize at the Surgical Robot Challenge in London.

CUHK and HKU Researchers Introduce 3D Printing Technology in Complex Cardiac Surgery Procedures

A joint research team from IRIS and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is the first in Hong Kong to introduce three-dimensional (3D) printing technology to complex cardiac procedures for enhancing procedural efficacy and safety.

Dr. Ka-Wai Kwok won the Early Career Award 2015/16 by RGC

Dr. Ka-Wai Kwok becomes the recipient of Early Career Awards 2015/16 offered by Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong. It recognises his work focusing on developing robotic catheterization system to improve the outcomes of therapeutic cardiac electrophysiology (EP) interventions which is an effective treatment to heart rhythm disorders.
